About Us

Our organization started out of a visible need to help educate women in our community regarding the divorce process. The Women’s Divorce Resource Center is modeled after the very successful “Second Saturday” program that has been helping women through this difficult time for over 15 years.

Our charity was co-founded in 2012 by Vicki McLellan, CFP, CDFA, MA and Rebecca Abel CFP, CDFA. Both have worked extensively on the financial side of divorce.

Vicki McLellan, CFP® , CDFA™ , EA

Vicki D. McLellan is owner and president of Equitable Divorce Resolutions. Vicki provides financial consultation for divorce as a Financial Neutral in Collaborative Practice, a Financial Neutral or Coach in Mediation, and a Financial Coach in traditional (litigated) divorce. Prior to starting Equitable Divorce Resolutions, she was head of the Financial Planning Department at the Center for Financial Planning in Southfield, Michigan.

Vicki holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota, Morris and Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Wayne State University. She received her Certified Financial Planner™ designation in 2007, the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst designation in 2003 and was trained as a financial neutral in Collaborative Practice at the inaugural Collaborative Practice Training in Michigan in 2004. She completed Family Mediation training in 2010, and received the Enrolled Agent (EA) tax certification in 2014.

As a financial neutral or coach, Vicki provides couples and individuals the information and education they need to make informed decisions about the financial and tax planning options they have for their divorce settlement. Finding a “respectful resolution for the common good” is the basis for her work. As a financial coach, she assists individuals going through a traditional divorce with a focus on finding solutions, rather than “grabbing for everything they can get”.

Vicki’s other training includes: the “Seven Stages of Money Maturity Workshop” and the Five Day Intensive Life Planning Training from the Kinder Institute of Life Planning. She is also a member of the Financial Planning Association, (and Michigan Chapter;) the Association of Divorce Financial Professionals; the Institute of Divorce Financial Analysts; the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals; and the Collaborative Practice Institute of Michigan. She is a founding member, and past secretary of her local practice group: Collaborative Divorce Professionals of Southeast Michigan. Active in her community, Vicki has served on several non-profit boards, and provided financial planning education to parents as part of Beaumont Hospital’s Parenting Program for over six years.
